Statistical Monitoring and Evaluation Cell


The Major Activities of the SM&EC are to:

 

(i)                  Provide Statistical Support to the Faculty, Ph.D. Scholars and Staff of NICD: The Cell helps Faculty, Scholars and various divisions of NICD in Research and Field Studies for finalization of sampling Design, Sample Size, Compilation & Presentation of Data and Data Analysis including application of various Statistical Tests etc. Assistance is also provided to present the data in the desired format and in the use of MS-Excel.

(ii)                Lecture on Statistics and Computer related topics for various training programmes: Lecture on Statistics and computer related topics are delivered to the participants of various training programmes, it also requires preparing material depending on the level of the participants. The work related to Co-ordination in connection with EP-103: Biostatistics and Health Informatics –I and EP – 203: Biostatistics and Health Informatics –II for the MPH(FE) First and Second Semester Students is also carried out by this Cell.

(iii)               Assist in collection, presentation, analysis and feedback of the data received in IDSP: IDSP is collecting the huge data from the various districts on weekly basis. It analyses data and sends back the regular feedback to the concerned officers of the district and the state. SM & E Cell helps IDSP in this work.

(iv)              Collect, Compile, Analyse and Disseminate information of diseases and Prepare various analytical reports for monitoring purposes at the time of disease outbreaks: During Outbreak; Information about the various diseases is collected/received and analysed in the unit. The data so collected are compiled, analysed and presented to the Senior Officers of the NICD and that of the Ministry in the desired format. In addition the information available in the reports of CBHI pertaining to Communicable Diseases is compiled and made available (in the desired format) for replying to the Parliament Questions. 

(v)                Prepare weekly reports on Cholera cases in Delhi: Stool samples of acute diarrhoea cases admitted in Infectious Diseases Hospitals, Delhi and referred to NICD are examined for V. Vholera including 0139 Cholera. Based on the analysis of the daily reports prepared by Microbiology Division, a zonewise weekly report of positive cases is prepared and forwarded (alongwith line list) to MCD, Delhi every Monday.

 

(vi)              Provide Administrative Support for the conduct of MPH(FE) and other short term courses: It addition the Cell provides Support in connection with the conduct of various courses particularly that of MPH(FE). It helps in scrutiny of applications received for MPH(FE), sorting of data, preparation of results etc. The activities related to conduct of internal and External Exams of MPH are also handled by the Cell.  

 

 

 Duties of the Staff Members of Statistical Monitoring and Evaluation Cell:

 

1.     Sh. K. C. Meena, Senior Statistical Officer:

 

(i)          Preparation of weekly reports based on data compiled in the unit relating to cases and incidence rate of cholera-Delhi.

(ii)        To assist in the duties related to admission/affiliation of MPH(FE)

(iii)       Administrative duties pertaining to the cell.

(iv)      Supervision of the work done by Statistical Investigator Gr. IV.

(v)        Assisting in conduct of different trainings/Seminars etc.

 

2.     Shri S. D. Sharma, Statistical Officer:

(i)            Compilation and analysis of Morbidity / Mortality data on communicable diseases and outbreaks in different parts of the country.

(ii)          Compilation of data regarding cases and deaths of various diseases like Dengue, Chickenguniya, Meningitis etc. (during outbreaks) particularly for Delhi.

(iii)         Preparation of weekly and daily report of these diseases, which include collection of data, its updation, preparing relevant tables and graphs, preparing covering letter etc. 

(iv)        Compilation and analysis of month and hospital wise sentinel surveillance data showing morbidity / mortality status of communicable diseases.

(v)          Issue of reminders to defaulting sentinel surveillance units.  

(vi)        Supervision/checking of the work done by the PMOs.

 

 

3. Shri L. P. Meena, Statistical Investigator Grade-IV:

(i)         Miscellaneous Computer work (including computer typing) particularly related to MPH course.

(ii)       Collection of water sample and testing of water for RC during summer months.

(iii)     Assisting Shri. K. C. Meena and Shri S. D. Sharma in the preparation of weekly reports based on data compiled in the unit relating to cases and incidence rate of cholera-Delhi.

(iv)     Maintaining files and other record of the unit.

 

 4.      Mrs. Shashi Kochhar / Mrs. Sharda Manchanda, PMOs

(i)          Compilation of data relating to incidence of cholera (O1 and O139 cases) in Delhi based on daily lab reports received from Division of Microbiology, zone wise classification of cases and preparation of weekly reports.

(ii)        Periodic updating of zone wise list of areas of Delhi.

(iii)       Compilation of data of cholera cases zone wise/ month wise and age-gender wise for Delhi State.

(iv)      Typing of notes, letters and other miscellaneous correspondence whenever needed.
